Liverpool players to watch

There was plenty for FPL managers to take from Liverpool's opening-weekend performance in their 2-2 draw at Newcastle United.

The Reds had 27 shots at St. James' Park in total, which is immediately encouraging when looking to buy a player in FPL for their attacking output.

Dominik Szoboszlai (£7.0m) converting a 99th-minute penalty was celebrated by more than 42 per cent of the managers who owned him, but there were other numbers that caught the eye too.

Cody Gakpo (£7.0m) scored Liverpool's first goal and finished the game with six shots - more than any other player over the weekend's fixtures as a whole.

He also reached the defensive contribution threshold, meaning that he picked up the additional two defensive contribution points, resulting in a 12-point tally, which was the most across the Liverpool team.

Victor Munoz (£6.5m) offering an assist from the bench makes him a player to watch over the coming weeks as he adapts to life in the Premier League.

Munoz also supplied four crosses and had two shots during his cameo on Tyneside.

Szoboszlai's late penalty ensured an eight-point FPL return for the midfielder. Should he remain on penalty duty moving forward, it increases his already strong route to points for managers.

The Hungary international also took all of Liverpool's corners and free-kicks during Gameweek 1.

Despite not keeping a clean sheet, there is still plenty to suggest that investing in Andoni Iraola's defence in FPL could bring strong returns.

Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) registered the additional two defensive contribution points and had two attempts on goal.

Meanwhile, Jeremie Frimpong (£5.5m) created three chances in the opposition box, level across the Liverpool team with Gakpo and Szoboszlai.

Most-transferred-in player

Arsenal's Riccardo Calafiori (£5.5m) is the most-transferred-in player ahead of Gameweek 2 as things stand. The defender registered an assist and helped keep a clean sheet in the opening round of fixtures.

Gameweek 2 deadline

The Gameweek 2 deadline is at 6.30pm BST on Friday August 28. FPL managers will have one free transfer to use. Should you want to make more changes then this will cost -4 points from your FPL score totals.

If you don't want to use your free transfer, then you can roll it over up to five times. Rolling a transfer this week will give you two free transfers for Gameweek 3.
