Everton FC unveils new permanent Hillsborough memorial
Everton FC has unveiled a new permanent memorial to the 97 supporters who lost their lives in the Hillsborough tragedy.
The plaque at Hill Dickinson Stadium commemorates the men, women and children who were unlawfully killed as a result of the events at Liverpool’s FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest on April 15, 1989.
It features a rendering of a poignant moment of solidarity at the Blues’ former home, Goodison Park, following the publication of the Hillsborough Independent Panel report in September 2012.
Representatives of both clubs and the Hillsborough families, and Mayor of the Liverpool City Region Steve Rotheram, laid wreaths at the memorial today to mark the 37th anniversary of the disaster.
