FeatureBradley Barcola factfile: Eight things to know about Liverpool's new forward

The French forward joins on a long-term contract from Paris Saint-Germain to become the Reds' fourth new addition of the summer window.

A mightily impressive honours list. Barcola arrives on Merseyside as a two-time Champions League winner. He raised Old Big Ears in each of the past two seasons, delivering an assist in the 2025 final to help PSG to their maiden triumph in the competition. He won the Ligue 1 crown in all three of his years at Parc des Princes, too. And also in his collection are three Trophee des Champions winner's medals, two for the Coupe de France, two for the UEFA Super Cup and one for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. In terms of individual achievements, he was voted Ligue 1 signing of the season in 2023-24 and then followed that up by earning a spot in the division's 2024-25 Team of the Year.

Impressive output, too. Barcola leaves PSG with a record of 39 goals and 35 assists from 152 appearances over three years. His most productive campaign came in 2024-25 with 39 goal involvements (21 goals, 18 assists) – only eight players registered more across Europe's so-called top five leagues.

His international career. Barcola has 28 senior caps for France to date after debuting in a June 2024 friendly against Luxembourg. He made three appearances at Euro 2024 and featured in all eight of Les Bleus' matches at the 2026 World Cup. His goals tally for his country currently stands at six – half of which came at this summer's tournament in North America. He opened his account by scoring the French national team's fastest-ever goal, netting after 13 seconds of a UEFA Nations League meeting with Italy in September 2024. Barcola had the option of representing Togo, for whom his brother Malcolm plays as a goalkeeper.

What to expect. The right-footed Barcola typically plays on the left wing but is more than able to play on the opposite flank and through the middle. He can score, create and threaten from whatever position. According to Opta, Barcola averaged 0.9 chance-creating carries and 1.6 shot-ending carries per 90 minutes last season – both the highest figures in the PSG squad. In addition, none of his clubmates were able to craft as many open-play chances as his 72. He also clocked a speed of 36.7 km/h in the Champions League – the joint-fifth-fastest recorded in the 2025-26 competition. 'Crazy fast' was how Hugo Ekitike once described him. In terms of off-the-ball work, Barcola won possession in the final third for PSG on 30 occasions last season, with only midfielder Vitinha (36) doing so more.

Why he wears No.29. Barcola will keep the squad number he wore at PSG, becoming the first Red to occupy it since Arthur Melo. Barcola explained his attachment to that particular number during an interview with Club Legacyz last year: "It's actually a funny story. When I was younger, I used to play FIFA. In the story mode with Alex Hunter, this number became symbolic for me. I thought to myself, 'The day I go pro, it'll be No.29.' And here I am. I adopted it and now I'll never let it go."

Previous business with PSG. Barcola is the fourth player to arrive at Liverpool from Parc des Princes. The first was Nicolas Anelka on loan back in December 2001, followed by the permanent transfers of David Ngog (2008) and Mamadou Sakho (2013).

How he fared against Liverpool. Barcola has faced his new club on four occasions throughout his senior career. He was involved in three of the four Champions League knockout meetings between the Reds and PSG over the past two seasons, assisting Ousmane Dembele's second goal at Anfield back in April. His first experience was for Olympique Lyonnais in December 2022. While the World Cup in Qatar was being played, Barcola scored against Jürgen Klopp's side in the Dubai Super Cup.
