Anfield travel update: Sandhills station partial closure
Ahead of Sunday’s fixture at Anfield, fans are advised to plan your travel in advance as there are a number of major disruptions that may affect your journey.

We encourage supporters to check in advance if your usual route is impacted.
Merseyrail
Starting this Sunday, major works on Merseyrail will affect travel to and from the Premier League game against Manchester City as follows:
Northern Line between Hunts Cross and Liverpool will be closed for the duration of the works. There will be no Northern Line services to Liverpool city centre stations
Customers travelling from Hunts Cross to Sandhills can use replacement bus services before connecting with Soccerbus
Customers on rail replacement buses from Hunts Cross can also use local bus services from Liverpool city centre to get to Anfield instead of travelling through Sandhills
Northern Line trains will operate between Sandhills and Southport, Ormskirk or Headbolt Lane only, with amended train services
Wirral Line services will not stop at Moorfields, Lime Street and Liverpool Central. They will terminate at James Street
Supporters should alight at James Street and make their way to Anfield using local bus services or by walking to connecting transport links in the city centre
There will be amended train services from West Kirby, New Brighton, Chester and Ellesmere Port to James Street
The works are set to run for a month, from this Sunday (October 11) through to November 6.
Find more information on the Merseyrail website.
Walton Breck Road
The Liverpool City Council highways improvement scheme on Walton Breck Road will impact travel by car and on foot. This will continue until March 2027. For more information on the Liverpool City Council works, go here.
The work incorporates the widening of pavements, new crossing points and resurfacing of the main carriageway. Throughout the programme there will be a single-lane carriageway closure in place on Walton Breck Road. Traffic will only run in one direction from Oakfield Road towards the city centre.
Walton Breck Road will still have the usual matchday closures in place – which will now be two hours before kick-off and one hour after the final whistle.
Post-match, fans in the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand will only be able to exit by turning left onto Anfield Road. There will be no access to Walton Breck Road.
The taxi rank located adjacent to the Paisley Gates will be moved temporarily and relocated to Venmore Street.
Matchday shuttle buses
Fans travelling to the match by car can avoid any congestion around the stadium by using the matchday shuttle buses, which are close to safe and secure parking, making them a great park and ride option.
There are several express services from Liverpool city centre and Bootle that will get you to and from Anfield.
More information on the direct routes can be found here.
Thank you for your continued support.
