News2025-26 Premier League fixtures release: All you need to know
Liverpool’s Premier League fixture schedule for 2025-26 will be announced at 9am BST on Wednesday (June 18).
The provisional dates of the champions’ 38 games across the next campaign will be confirmed right here on Liverpoolfc.com.
These will be subject to change for television broadcast purposes and European competition scheduling.
Key dates
The season is scheduled to get under way across the weekend of Saturday August 16.
The campaign will be composed of 33 weekend rounds of matches and five midweek sets of games.
2025-26 will conclude with simultaneous matches played on Sunday May 24, 2026.
Home or away?
The law of averages suggests the fixture computer is due to throw up a home game to open the season for the Reds soon.
That’s because Liverpool have begun with an away trip in each of the previous four years, travelling to Norwich City (2021-22), Fulham (2022-23), Chelsea (2023-24) and Ipswich Town (2024-25).
The last time they had an Anfield match to commence a season was when Leeds United were beaten 4-3 behind closed doors at the outset of 2020-21.
Promoted teams
The Reds will be renewing acquaintances with Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland after those three clubs were promoted from the Championship, the latter via the play-offs.
They replace Ipswich, Leicester City and Southampton from last term’s competitors.
Burnley return to the top flight after just a single season in the second tier, while Leeds are back in the Premier League after a two-year absence.
Sunderland, though, have been away since relegation in 2016-17; Liverpool’s last meeting with the Black Cats was a 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light on the second day of 2017.
