Liverpool’s four possible opponents in the Champions League last 16 contested the first legs of their play-off ties this week.

Having finished third in the league phase, the Reds secured automatic progression to the knockout rounds.

There, they will face one of Atletico Madrid, Club Brugge, Galatasaray and Juventus, who are meeting in the play-offs for the last 16.

On Tuesday night, Galatasaray claimed a 5-2 win over Juventus in Istanbul. The return game in Turin is next Wednesday (February 25).

Tonight, Club Brugge scored an 89th-minute equaliser to draw 3-3 with visitors Atletico. Their second match is in Spain on Tuesday evening (February 24).

Liverpool will be paired with the winner of one of those two ties when the draw for the Round of 16 is held next Friday (February 27).

Last-16 fixtures are scheduled for March 10/11 and March 17/18.
