Liverpool could reportedly hijack Napoli's bid to sign Porto midfielder Hector Herrera.

Napoli are said to be in advanced talks with Porto regarding a summer transfer.

The Serie A club have already offered Herrera, 26, a five-year contract worth £27,500 a week plus bonuses.

But a difference in valuation between the two clubs could reportedly give Liverpool time to hijack the deal.

According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool are interested in Herrera as manager Jurgen Klopp seeks to bolster his midfield.

The report claims Napoli have offered £14.3million for the former Pachuca star but Porto want £15.9m.

Gazzetta claim a deal is 'likely' to be reached but that Napoli are wary of Liverpool's interest.

Herrera is currently on international duty with Mexico in the Copa America.
