Liverpool and Arsenal remain in the race to sign AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca after West Ham saw their £16million opening bid rejected.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim Milan are determined to bump up the price of their star forward.

Bacca, 29, only joined Milan from Sevilla last summer and scored 20 goals in his debut season in Italy.

But Milan are willing to offload the frontman at the right price as they face financial difficulties after failing to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Arsenal are thought to have been tracking Bacca's progress at Milan for some time and manager Arsene Wenger needs a striker this summer following the nine-month lay-off of Danny Welbeck with knee surgery.

Liverpool, who were named in Spanish newspaper AS as one of Bacca's suitors, are also chasing additional firepower up front.

Milan reportedly want £20m for Bacca, who himself is willing to leave the club provided he is offered the same £60,000-a-week contract he currently enjoys in Italy.
