Liverpool and Leicester City are reportedly set to battle over the signature Southampton forward Shane Long.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp believes the Ireland international could be perfectly suited to the high intensity game he has installed at Anfield, according the Irish Independent.

Meanwhile, Leicester City are keen to add to their squad with an extra competition in the Champions League next season.

However, both sides may have difficulty prying the 29-year-old away from St. Mary’s, with Saints keen to keep hold of their striker.

Manager Ronald Koeman is unhappy with how the club have let their players leave in the past, and it could take an extortionate £25 million to tempt them in to selling.
