Liverpool appear to be on the verge of signing Piotr Zielinski.

Express Sport understands Liverpool have been tracking Zielinski for a number of months.

The Reds even considered a move for the 21-year-old in January but Jurgen Klopp is though to have wanted to avoid rushing into a deal.

But now it looks as though Liverpool will announce the signing as soon as this week.

Reports in Poland claim a fee of £9.5million has been agreed although previous valuations have put it closer to £12m.

And pictures have also emerged from French TV station Canal+ of Zielinski wearing a Liverpool shirt bearing his name and the number 10.

The Polish international, who already has 13 caps to his name, is contracted to Udinese but has spent the last two seasons on loan at fellow Serie A side Empoli.

And Klopp is understood to have had his eye on the midfielder even before he came to Liverpool last October.

The player then confirmed last month that he had spoken to the Reds boss about a summer move but suggested that nothing would be done until after Euro 2016.

However, if Zielinski's transfer is announced this week, he will become the German manager's third permanent signing at Anfield.

Serbian youngster Marko Grujic's move from Red Star Belgrade was confirmed in January although he will not join the squad until this summer having been loaned back for the rest of the season.

And Klopp will also welcome Joel Matip into the squad before next season, having signed the defender on a free transfer from Schalke.
