Juventus are ready to go head-to-head with Liverpool in the race to sign Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich.

The German playmaker is expected to leave the Allianz Arena this summer having made just ten Bundesliga starts for Pep Guardiola's side.

Reports in Germany suggest Gotze has been given no guarantees by incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti that he will feature more prominently for the club next season and he is now on the lookout for a move.

Liverpool have been monitoring the player's situation at Bayern since January but now, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus want to lure Gotze to Serie A.

Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri wants to add two creative midfielders to his ranks next season and sees the German as an ideal fit for the Italian side.

But Jurgen Klopp remains confident he can persuade his former Borussia Dortmund play to sign for Liverpool this summer, and a bidding war for the 23-year-old is expected to take place when the transfer window opens in July.
