Liverpool and Everton target Presnel Kimpembe has claimed he must be playing first team football at his age – and says he has been flattered by interest from Monaco.

The Merseyside clubs have both been linked with the promising PSG talent, who has emerged as one of the best young defenders in French football.

However he has reportedly grown frustrated by his lack of game time and there are question marks surrounding his future following just four Ligue 1 appearances so far this season.

Now Kimpembe, 20, says he must be playing more regularly and is hoping to receive assurances regarding his future this summer - which could open the door for Liverpool or Everton to swoop.

He told Le Parisien: "At my age, you have to play.

"We'll see this summer what will be offered to me. I know what I'm capable of.

"I have experienced the level of Ligue 1 and I know I can play."

As well as the interest from England, AS Monaco are also big admirers of the youngster and it was reported that they had a January approach rebuffed by their Ligue 1 rivals.

Kimpembe added: "Such interest is flattering. But I am under contract with PSG until 2018 and I really did not think about it this winter."
