Liverpool and West Ham will battle it out for Chelsea defender Nathan Ake this summer.

That is according to The Telegraph, who claim Chelsea would demand £10million for the 21-year-old, who is currently on loan at Premier League side Watford.

Ake has impressed in 23 appearances for the Hornets, who are also thought to be keen on keeping the promising Netherlands Under-21 star on a permanent basis.

The Blues are yet to make their mind up on whether they want to keep Ake, but are unwilling to let him join a Premier League rival on the cheap.

Chelsea’s £10m asking price may be too high for Watford, but not for the likes of Liverpool and West Ham - who are both in the market for a left-back this summer.

However, Ake recently revealed his intentions to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

"Of course, I would like to return to Chelsea," he told KNVB website on his future plans.

"But it is important for a player of my age to get regular playing time. Things have been going pretty well this season. I am getting plenty of game time and I really feel like I am improving as a player.

"Let's see how the season ends with Watford and then we can start thinking about the future."
