Liverpool will look to follow the blueprint of their impressive Champions League victory at Etihad Stadium when they visit AS Roma on Wednesday, according to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Reds travel to Stadio Olimpico this week in control of their semi-final tie thanks to a healthy 5-2 lead earned during last Tuesday’s first leg at Anfield.

A three-goal advantage was also accrued by Jürgen Klopp’s team in their quarter-final encounter with Manchester City, with a 3-0 home win then being followed up with a 2-1 success in the second leg.

Alexander-Arnold, therefore, believes that result at the Etihad can provide the template for how Liverpool should approach their task in the Italian capital.

“We are looking to go there to win and get to the final,” said the No.66.

“We know they are going to have to come and score goals. They need to score goals to get through, the same as City. We passed the City test and hopefully we pass the test on Wednesday.”

The onus being on Roma to attack could provide Liverpool with an opportunity to counter and register away goals of their own, Alexander-Arnold feels.

“There is pace in the side and when the opposition gamble we can play behind them,” he continued.

“The front three especially will make the runs and we will look to find them. We are going there with a job to do, to go there and win.

“We know it is going to be an intimidating atmosphere and that is what they will look to do, just as our fans did to them. We have to be prepared mentally and physically.”
