Daniel Sturridge remains sidelined with a muscle injury.

The Liverpool striker has not been available to Jürgen Klopp since the 7-0 win over Spartak Moscow on December 6 due to an initial illness and then a tight hamstring.

And, as he provided a general squad fitness update following the Premier League victory against Swansea City on Boxing Day, the manager reported that the hectic nature of the fixture schedule is contributing to a delay in Sturridge’s comeback.

“I’m not 100 per cent sure. Pretty much [everyone] so far came through the game,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com at Melwood.

“Daniel Sturridge was ill and now [has] a little muscle thing. It’s not a big deal, to be honest, but in this period all these things keep you away from games.

“That’s not too cool for us, of course, but since yesterday not a lot [else happened].”
