Joe Gomez has received his first call-up to the England senior team having been named in Gareth Southgate's latest squad alongside Liverpool teammate Jordan Henderson.

The versatile defender has enjoyed an impressive start to the season at Anfield, making 11 appearances in all competitions featuring primarily at right-back.

He was named England U21 captain in August and wore the armband as Aidy Boothroyd's team picked up wins over Andorra and Scotland during the last international break.

This time, though, he will hope to feature for the senior side for the first time when they face Germany and Brazil in friendly fixtures at Wembley.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominic Solanke will also aim to represent the Three Lions later this month, the duo having been included in the U21s squad.
