Emre targets winning run after Maribor rout
Emre Can hopes Liverpool's historic 7-0 victory over Maribor represents a turning point following the frustrations of recent weeks.
The Reds visited Slovenia for Tuesday’s Champions League match on the back of an eight-game sequence that featured one win, five draws, two defeats and the disappointment of missed opportunities in front of goal.
However, Jürgen Klopp’s side were anything but profligate at Ljudski vrt, with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah doubles, plus strikes from Philippe Coutinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Trent Alexander-Arnold, earning the club’s record away triumph in European competition.

Can, therefore, was understandably delighted and spoke of his optimism that Liverpool can build upon their goal-laden display in the coming weeks.
“It was great,” the Germany international told Liverpoolfc.com, when asked to assess the Reds’ performance.
“We didn’t concede a goal, that’s important as well, and then we scored goals, created good chances, and I think it was a deserved win.
“You have to score and that was the reason we didn’t win the last games.
“Today we did it very well and I hope that was the game where it starts now again, the winning ways. It was a great performance and [we have] Sunday now, against Tottenham - a great game and hopefully we’ll play similar to today.”
Can admitted that Liverpool’s utter dominance over Maribor took him by surprise somewhat, given that the Slovenian champions had held Spartak Moscow to a draw in their previous home game in Group E.
“I think in the games before against Sevilla and Moscow they did a good job. Maribor got a draw here against Spartak and Spartak is a good team,” the No.23 said.
“I didn’t know what would happen, but we were very focused on the game, we were 100 per cent there. We had a quick start and scored early goals and it’s very good for us.”

Salah’s brace on Tuesday took his tally for the Reds to eight goals in 13 appearances since his summer switch from Roma.
Can has been hugely impressed by the Egypt international’s impact early on in his Anfield career, but also praised a brilliant all-round team performance versus Maribor.
“He can always score, he’s quick, creating chances, he’s a brilliant player and a brilliant signing for us and he did a very good job,” the midfielder continued.
“But I think you can’t pick today, everybody did well, everybody played good and that’s the way we have to go.”
