Simon Mignolet believes Liverpool will take important lessons from their 3-2 win over Leicester City into their upcoming games.

The Reds led from the 15th minute until the final whistle at the King Power Stadium, but were rarely comfortable up against a team who simply refused to lie down.

That Mignolet was required to produce a crucial penalty stop from Jamie Vardy in the second half to secure the three points says it all about what was a hard-fought encounter with Craig Shakespeare's side.

As such, the victory holds even greater significance for the Belgian, who hopes Liverpool can build on a battling performance against the Foxes.

"[It's a] tough away trip always, especially for us, [so] I think today's result is really important going forward," Mignolet told Liverpoolfc.com.

"It was all about getting back to winning ways and we did that, and I think also the manner we did it [was important].

"It wasn't easy, we fought well, showed character throughout the game to see it out and I think that's a big step forward.

"The performance was really good, we had to fight for it, we had to win our duels, we had to be tough. And we did. Like I said, that's a major thing we can take forward."

The No.22 went on to praise goalscorer Philippe Coutinho, who added to his fast-growing list of stunning free-kicks for the club in the first half.

Mignolet added: "He can always produce some magic.

"I was right behind the free-kick and the moment it left his boot I knew it was going to go in.

"He does that a lot in training and luckily it paid off again today."
