By Ollie Gandy.

What are your feelings ahead of the new season?

Hopeful. Another new manager, but things feel like they might be a little more stable this season.

How pleased have you been with your transfer business to date?

Chalobah and Hughes are great signings: young, English and technically brilliant. I still think we need another quality centre-back but the window’s not closed yet – but there should be less of a late frenzy compared to recent summers. And although not a new signing, the return of Roberto Pereyra after a long lay-off feels like one.

How is your team likely to line up?

Flat back four and wingers. This is a Silva side so we’ll play counter-attack. He’s already admitted we need to move the ball quicker, and anyone who’s watched us under Mazzarri and especially Flores will know that’s true.

I’ll be interested to see who lines up in central midfield. With Chalobah fighting Cleverley, Doucoure (who finished last season very well) and Capoue, I think Behrami and Watson will have a hard time even getting on the bench.

Who will be your most important player?

Troy Deeney. He’s our only reliable goalscorer.

Who is the unsung hero in your squad?

Sebastian Prodl. He’s been under the radar so I’m pleased he’s not been poached by a bigger club.

What do you expect from Liverpool this season?

Top four again. In pre-season you’ve looked dangerous.

If you could have one Liverpool player in your team, who would it be?

Last season I said Adam Lallana and he had a brilliant season for you. This time I’d say Sadio Mane. His pace can change a game for you. And there’s no Africa Cup of Nations this season!

Top four (in order)?

Man City
Chelsea
Man Utd
Liverpool

Relegated?

Brighton
Huddersfield
I also think Stoke are in trouble – they’ve got rid of some key players (including Whelan, who I think has been integral)

Surprise package?

Crystal Palace. They have a very decent XI.

What is your biggest wish for the season?

That the fans behind me stop moaning.
