2017-18 fan season preview: Huddersfield

What are your feelings ahead of the new season?
Mostly excitement. First time in the Premier League, first season back in the top flight since 1972. After an incredible season last time out in the Championship, I think Town fans can’t wait for what the next chapter for the club brings. Obviously we are favourites to go down and we are under no illusions that it will be a tough season, but we were favourites to go down last year with many, and look what happened then...
How pleased have you been with your transfer business to date?
Terriers fans wanted us to sign some of the key loan players who got us into the Premier League and David Wagner has done his best to do just that. Mooy and Palmer fit our system, know how the fans expect them to perform and will do well. Being a Yorkshire club, spending money has never been our thing, so to see £35m+ being splashed out is taking some getting used to. Still, we’ve brought in Ince, Mounie from France, Zanka in defence, Depoitre up front, Lossl in goal, Williams and Malone. Is it enough? We’ll see...
How is your team likely to line up?
I’d expect Wagner to stick with 4-2-3-1, it worked so well last year and is key to our transition/gegenpressing style.
Who will be your most important player?
I’d probably say Mooy. He was Player of the Year for a reason, when he’s on it the team just clicks. Goals are key, though, in the Premier League, so new signing Mounie will be crucial too.
Who is the unsung hero in your squad?
Jonathan Hogg. He is known as the Terminator after seemingly breaking his neck and being back on the pitch two weeks later. His role in front of the back four is so important.
What do you expect from Liverpool this season?
Up the top end I’d guess. To be honest, I’m not thinking about the competition! I guess Wagner will want to put one (or two) over on old friend Klopp, though.
If you could have one Liverpool player in your team, who would it be?
For sentimental reasons, Danny Ward because of his play-off penalty shootout heroics.

What is your biggest wish for the season?
To do ourselves justice and entertain our fans like we did last season. Leave nothing on the pitch and if it’s not enough to stay up, so be it.
