Liverpool will begin pre-season training at Melwood on Wednesday morning – and around 22 players are set to report as preparations begin in earnest for 2017-18.

The likes of Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Daniel Sturridge, Nathaniel Clyne, Lucas Leiva and Joel Matip will undertake their first sessions as the Reds gear up for the new campaign.

Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson and Danny Ings will also be at Melwood having missed the end of the last campaign due to injury.

Players at Melwood on Wednesday: Karius, Grabara, Gomez, Matip, Milner, Moreno, Randall, Alexander-Arnold, Henderson, Lucas, Stewart, Mane, Firmino, Chirivella, Kent, Flanagan, Sakho, Markovic, Clyne, Sturridge, Bogdan, Ings.

Further players, including new signing Mohamed Salah, Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho, Emre Can, Georginio Wijnaldum, Simon Mignolet and Dejan Lovren, will begin pre-season training at later dates following their international commitments at the conclusion of 2016-17.

Liverpool will contest their first pre-season friendly next Wednesday (July 12) with a clash against Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park, before they travel to Wigan Athletic two days later ahead of the trip to Hong Kong for the Premier League Asia Trophy.
