Emre Can played the whole match as Germany sealed their place in the Confederations Cup semi-finals with a 3-1 win over Cameroon on Sunday.

The Liverpool midfielder shook off a minor ankle injury to start the Group B clash in Sochi, where Joachim Low’s side took the points through goals from Kerem Demirbay and Timo Werner (two) in the second half.

A response from Vincent Aboubakar proved mere consolation for Cameroon.

The result confirmed a first-place finish in the section for the world champions, ahead of Chile in second – who also progress to the last four.

Can and his country will now face the runners-up of Group A, Mexico, in the semi-finals, with the match to be held on Thursday June 29.
