Trent Alexander-Arnold is enjoying every minute of his first experience of a mid-season training camp with Liverpool's senior squad.

But the Academy graduate insists there has been no sign of the intensity of training dropping off since the Reds arrived in Spain on Wednesday.

Alexander-Arnold is part of the group spending four days in La Manga preparing for the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign in the absence of an FA Cup tie this weekend.

And, while the No.66 is relishing the opportunity to take part in the camp, he says the standards expected of him remain as high as ever.

"It's been really fun, exciting, I think we've all enjoyed it so far," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"It's a bit different to what we're used to really, with cycling to the training ground, and it's kind of like a pre-season, just in the middle of the season, so it's a bit different. I've never really had this before and I'm enjoying it so far.

"[We have to] concentrate on training and get the most out of it.

"It's not a holiday, we're here for a reason and that's to train and that's what we're going to do.

"We're going to give everything we can in training, like we always do when we're back at Melwood, and we can't let the environment take that away."

LFCTV GO: Trent on making the most of La Manga training camp

The Reds' stay on the continent is a chance for Trent to strengthen relationships with the first-team stars who, prior to this season, he only watched from afar.

The West Derby-raised full-back believes his increasing confidence among the senior players is as helpful on the pitch as it is off it.

"Every day I'm getting more comfortable around the first team and they're really helpful in that way, they're always telling us to be ourselves and try and enjoy it as much as we can – and that's what all of us youngsters try to do," he added.

"I suppose at the start I was quite shy and timid, but that's what you'd expect from a young lad coming through.

"The quicker you can settle in and be confident around them, the better, because once you're confident around them then you can be confident when you're training and playing, and that's when you get the best out of yourself, I think."

Alexander-Arnold made his first-team debut in October when he was named in the starting XI for a 2-1 EFL Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur.

He has since made seven further senior appearances, with one of those coming from the off against Manchester United in the daunting arena of Old Trafford.

Liverpool's failure to progress in the FA Cup could mean the right-back has fewer such opportunities to impress before the end of the campaign – but he has promised to be ready should he be needed.

"You can never rest and think 'my part's done now for the season', you've always got to be ready for that call-up," he continued.

"I had to be ready for that Man United game and you've just got to be ready for that moment because it can come whenever.

"Even if you don't expect it, you've got to always have it in the back of your mind that you might be called upon to make a performance and make an impact on the game.

"Even though we're out of the [cup] competitions, we've still got to be ready to play."
