Asked to choose the most talented player in the Liverpool squad for brand new LFCTV show ‘LFC Later’, which premieres tonight, the Reds centre-back could not limit himself to just one selection.
Instead, Matip nominated both Coutinho and Sturridge – both signed four years ago this month – who leave him lost for words with their natural ability in training and matches.
“If you see them with the ball, you don’t have to say anything,” the No.32 explained as he answered quickfire ‘Teammates’ questions for the programme.
“Everybody knows. How they touch the ball… every football player knows they are amazing. Wow!”
Matip also lifts the lid on a variety of subjects from inside the dressing room, revealing his choices for funniest player, best passer, most likely to be a pundit, worst haircut and much more.
The first episode of ‘LFC Later’ sees midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum join Claire Rourke and former Reds wing-back Jason McAteer to discuss his opening six months at Anfield.
As well as more special guests and features, the show includes an exclusive interview at the home of Simon Mignolet, too, as the goalkeeper speaks to Olympic gold medal winner Sam Quek about life away from football.
