Liverpool must learn the lessons from the 4-3 defeat at Bournemouth, but then put their south coast frustrations firmly behind them before taking on West Ham this weekend.

That’s the verdict of Reds legend Ian Rush, who feels a victory over the Hammers at Anfield on Sunday will put Jürgen Klopp’s side back on track in the Premier League following only their second loss of the campaign so far.

“It’s very important [to regroup],” he told Liverpoolfc.com. “Now it’s about regrouping as a squad – not as a team, but as a squad – and saying ‘if we want to be successful, then we have to learn from our mistakes and put them right against West Ham’.

“Everyone will make mistakes, but learn from them, put them right in the next game and you’ll be fine. We’re at home in our next game and the fans will be behind the players.

“But it’s about taking things one step at a time, so it’s about getting a win against West Ham and getting back on track and we’ll be fine.”

Rush’s words came with a note of caution: West Ham will journey to Anfield on a run of six games without a win in all competitions.

“They could be dangerous because of that,” he added. “They’ll be thinking ‘if we can go to Liverpool and get a result…’. They’ve previously played well at Anfield, so we have to be careful.”
