Jürgen Klopp believes Liverpool can become stronger from the experience of conceding a 3-1 lead to lose 4-3 at Bournemouth on Sunday, if they are ready to learn the lessons from it.

In a topsy-turvy game at the Vitality Stadium, the Reds suffered only their second defeat of the season so far, bringing an end to a 15-match unbeaten run.

It had started brightly for the visitors too, as they raced into a two-goal lead thanks to efforts from Sadio Mane and Divock Origi.

Callum Wilson’s penalty pulled one back for the Cherries early in the second period, but Emre Can added a third for Liverpool, who appeared to be on course to collect the three points.

However, three goals in 17 minutes – including a stoppage-time winner from Nathan Ake – turned the game on its head and ensured it was Bournemouth who claimed victory.

Nevertheless, while Klopp acknowledges his side should have closed the contest out, he feels if the lessons are heeded by his squad, then it can stand them in good stead - starting against West Ham United on Sunday.

He told Liverpoolfc.com post-match: “We know about our situation, in a good and a bad perspective, so everything is good.

“At the moment, there is nothing I can say which is smart enough [to pretend] that the result is not like it is. We have to accept it. But we are responsible for this result, that’s for sure – and that’s what I told the boys.

“So, when we are responsible for this result we can be responsible for positive results because everybody could see, in the better moments everybody could see we were the clear better team.

“Maybe we should [be] against Bournemouth, but it is not an easy place to play and we did it really well, but not until the end – and that’s our fault, nobody else’s. That’s what we have to learn.

“On the way like we are, there is no easy [way] - it is not without knocks, but in these moments you can get stronger. That’s what we will be after this experience – and in the next game, we can already show that.”
