On this day 64 years ago, Ronnie Moran made his Liverpool FC debut.

It was on November 22, 1952, that the man for whom the term 'legend' seems insufficent first pulled on the Liverbird - during a 3-2 defeat at Derby County.

Nobody in attendance that day, not least Moran himself, could have predicted that they were witnessing the early stages of an unrivalled 49-year stint in service to the LFC cause.

But the 18-year-old full-back making his bow at the Baseball Ground was in fact beginning a journey that ended almost half a century later with him having taken on the roles of player, captain, coach, reserve team boss, physio and caretaker manager at Anfield.

Moran's playing career saw him claim two First Division titles and the FA Cup, but it was as a member of the famous Boot Room coaching setup that he contributed to the majority of his 30 major trophy wins.

The Scouser was brought onto the staff by Bill Shankly and subsequently went on to serve under Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan, Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness and Roy Evans during a period of incredible success for the Reds.

He eventually retired in 1998 but remains a regular and welcome presence at Anfield, the club's Academy in Kirkby, and Melwood - visiting the latter last season to meet Jürgen Klopp.
