Jürgen Klopp insisted there were plenty of positives for Liverpool to take from Saturday's 0-0 draw with Southampton, not least the concentration levels shown by his team on a frustrating afternoon.

The Reds put in another fine performance as they resumed their Premier League campaign on the south coast, but failed to convert a number of presentable chances and the Saints held on for a point.

While the trip to St Mary's did not yield the win it arguably deserved, though, Klopp was pleased his players did not become disheartened and contrive to throw their share of the spoils away.

"Second half, [we showed] a good reaction and it was a concentration battle: who loses concentration first will lose the game," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"We didn't lose it, they were waiting for the moment and we didn't give this moment away.

"Even when they had a counter-attack with a runner, maybe Redmond, we came with four players and really were ready to help each other, that's great. That's what we can use for the next games.

"We only got one point but the attitude would have been enough for more and if we can keep this attitude it will be good."

The German also expressed delight over seeing the Reds' typically passionate away support show their appreciation for the gritty display they had witnessed.

"You have to take the small things - it's a point. We have one more than before the game, that's OK!" he added.

"Usually a game like this, you lose, and we lost games like this already. We really were fighting even for the draw and that's good and important.

"I saw the crowd after the game and they were happy with the performance and they didn't expect that we [would score] four or five, they knew it's difficult.

"I like this common idea. It's hard work, and we were not surprised about it, but first half we were not brilliant.

"The second half was much better, we should have won but we didn't, but that's easy to accept because I've had to accept worse results than this."
