Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has been shortlisted for the 2016 BBC African Footballer of the Year award.

The Senegal international joined the club in the summer from Southampton and has since scored six goals in 13 appearances to help the Reds make a strong start in the Premier League and reach the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.

Mane is one of five players in contention for the accolade, alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Andre Ayew, Riyad Mahrez and Yaya Toure.

The winner will be decided by an online public vote – which is open until 6pm GMT on Monday November 28 – and revealed next month.
