Sadio Mane hailed a 'deserved' win built on 'amazing' football after Liverpool thrashed Hull City at Anfield on Saturday to extend their fine run of recent form.

The Reds found themselves three goals up and a man to the good with just 45 minutes gone on Merseyside, after Adam Lallana, James Milner and Mane made the most of a sparkling first-half performance.

And, despite conceding early on during the second period, the hosts underlined their dominance as they added further strikes through Philippe Coutinho and Milner before the game was out.

Reflecting on the result, Mane told Liverpoolfc.com: "I think today we deserved the win, we played amazing football from the beginning until the end.

"The most important [thing] is that we created a lot of chances and scored a lot of goals as well.

"It was key to [our] success today and we're going to try our best in training every day to be ready for the next step."

Liverpool's ability to see off the so-called 'smaller' teams had been called into question prior to their meeting with the Tigers, but they responded in style with an emphatic victory.

When prompted on the Reds' riposte to their doubters, Mane added: "In football it's always like that. For us, it's important to take it step-by-step, game-by-game and try to [beat] big teams [and] small teams.

"It's just important to get the three points and we're [always] going to give our best to get them."

Mane netted his third goal of the season and second on home turf as Mike Phelan's team were brushed aside at Anfield.

And, while he was obviously delighted to get on the scoresheet, he refused to get carried away.

"I'm very happy to score my second Anfield goal for the club, I will keep working for the club and the fans as well," he continued.

"We have a lot of games, it's just the beginning of the season so the most important thing is to take it game-by-game and try to win and we will see."
