By Adam Hawes, Tottenham Hotspur fan

What are your feelings ahead of the new season?

I’m actually proud of the sensible and prudent approach of our club. No marquee signing. We have a young and settled team. We’ve identified the deficiencies in the squad and signed the right players (I hope). I feel confident we will be competing for silverware this season (not necessarily the PL).

Are you satisfied with your club’s transfer business this summer?

I am. I’m also excited by the number of youngsters being promoted from the academy and we’re not signing average players (we used to do that a lot) that may get in their way. There is a togetherness and spirit in the side that Spurs teams have not usually had.

How is your team likely to line up?

Picking our starting XI has never been easier... Lloris, Walker, Toby, Jan, Rose, Dier, Dembele, Eriksen, Lamela, Alli and Kane. Now that’s a good side.

Have you got the right man in charge?

Best manager in my lifetime. In Poch we trust.

What do you expect from Liverpool this season?

I think the glimpses of improvement and dynamism we saw last year will become a great deal more consistent this year. We may see the ‘gegenpressing’ being deployed to its full potential. That could be scary.

If you could have one Liverpool player in your team, who would it be?

Philippe Coutinho (quickest decision I’ve made all year).

Top four (in order)?

Spurs
City
Liverpool
Man United

Relegated?

Hull, Burnley, West Brom (I’d love that to happen!)

Who will be the surprise package?

Middlesbrough – really impressive in the transfer market.

What is your one wish for the season?

Talk focused on football and not the ‘antics’ of managers. I think the media may implode with the Galactico managers that will be going head-to-head this season. Cameras focused on the football pitch, please, and not the touchline postulations.
