What are your feelings ahead of the new season?

I think the league looks incredibly competitive this year. As a fan of a club who, realistically, are probably not going to be right up there I’m just looking forward to seeing some good football and seeing how it all pans out. No matter what happens, you know there’s going to be some “big” clubs and managers left disappointed at the end of the season because they can’t all win it.

Are you satisfied with your club’s transfer business this summer?

It’s been great to see us make genuine upgrades with the signings we have made. I’m really excited to see what Andros Townsend can do this season as he’s looked very sharp in pre-season and, although not the most glamorous signing, I think James Tomkins will prove to be a shrewd piece of business. Steve Mandanda will hopefully provide a safe pair of hands as back-up to Hennessey but I wouldn’t be too surprised if he ends up as our number one before the end of the season. Hennessey can be prone to a howler or two (throwing the ball between his legs away at Villa last season, for one) and Pardew hasn’t been shy about chopping and changing ’keepers. The big worry is how lightweight we look up front still. We’re going into the season with a strike force of one injury-prone Connor Wickham and one goal-shy Fraizer Campbell. It’s not filling me with confidence!

How is your team likely to line up?

Hennessey, Ward, Souare, Dann (c), Tomkins, Cabaye, McArthur, Townsend, Zaha, Puncheon, Wickham.

Have you got the right man in charge?

For me, absolutely. Pardew is a club legend and he “gets” us. At the end of the day, football is about more than winning, it’s about the communities which are built up around these clubs and Pards is one of us.

What do you expect from Liverpool this season?

Klopp has got me believing! I think you’re going to finish in the top four, which would be a great achievement considering how tough it’s going to be this season.

If you could have one Liverpool player in your team, who would it be?

Even though we desperately need a striker and you’ve got some world-class players like Coutinho, there’s only one person I could pick – come home Nathaniel Clyne! From the very first time he pulled on a Palace shirt I think a lot of us knew he was going to be a special player, so there’s a lot of love for Nat down here and pride in seeing how far he has gone.

Top four (in order)?

Manchester City
Chelsea
Liverpool
Arsenal

Relegated?

Watford, Middlesbrough, Hull

Who will be the surprise package?

Manchester United, surprisingly not finishing in the top four.

What is your one wish for the season?

Another cup final, please.
