What are your feelings ahead of the new season?

The only way is up! Last season was a bit of a reality check, and I think we need to manage our expectations given the massive changes that have and are needed to take place. I like Conte, though, and the overall feeling is definitely an optimistic one.

Are you satisfied with your club’s transfer business?

Getting Kante, especially without the lure of Champions League football, was a real coup. However, we still look to be three short of a decent back four. Retaining a back-to-form Hazard is like a signing in itself and if the Koulibaly deal comes off to strengthen the defence, it has to go down as a strong summer. If we could throw a left-back into the mix then it would be an absolute winner.

How is your team likely to line up?

I don’t think there will be major changes from last season. Kante will slot in next to Matic and hopefully that will tighten things up. That would mean Fabregas being pushed forward into the number 10 role alongside Willian and Hazard, with Costa up top.

Have you got the right man in charge?

It seems so. We needed a change and it looks like we’ve brought a top manager in. I liked what I saw in the Euros, both in terms of management and attitude. I also think he has the strength to control our dressing room.

What do you expect from Liverpool this season?

They have made some decent signings, to strengthen a squad already full of potential. Keeping Sturridge fit for a season would have a massive impact. It’s going to be hugely competitive this year, though, so I’d see them challenging for the top four.

If you could have one Liverpool player in your team, who would it be?

May seem the obvious choice, but it would have to be Coutinho. He is a very special player.

Top four (in order)?

Man City
Man United
Chelsea
Arsenal

Relegated?

Burnley, Hull, Swansea

Who will be the surprise package?

I think Middlesbrough will do well in comparison to the other promoted teams.

What is your one wish for the season?

Headlines for the right reasons and getting ourselves back into the Champions League.
