The success of the team may be more important to Adam Lallana but the midfielder admits he is keen to end his wait for a first England goal at Euro 2016.

With 26 caps amassed to date, Liverpool’s No.20 has become an established starter for the Three Lions and is drawing plaudits for his performances during the tournament in France.

An irritating statistic is still to be changed, however, and though Lallana puts the collective cause above personal aims, he would dearly like to find the target as quickly as possible.

He told FATV of the campaign so far: “I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s great to be representing your country and I’m very proud of that.

“But I’m mainly delighted that the team has got through to the last 16. I’m happy to help the team.

“Obviously I’d like to have got a goal, definitely in the first game and I had a couple of chances [against Slovakia] as well but the ‘keeper made a good save.

“I feel it’s coming – keep working hard and it will come. It will be nice when it happens. But as long as we’re winning and the team is doing well, that’s the only thing that really matters.”
