On his record in finals...

Before a final I only think about the performance because I know there are two possible things in a final - you win or you lose. The only thing I can really have an influence on is performance. If you had enough time, maybe you watched the finals before you asked the questions and you will have seen that all the teams I was in finals with always performed really well. They were close games. I'm not frustrated about my final record, it could have been a little better that's for sure, but it is like this. When it's over, it's over. I was, for sure, not happy after finals I didn't win but to be honest I don't think about it anymore. At home I have a little too many silver medals, that's true, but it's better than having no medals. The longer you don't win anything, the harder you try, the more likely it is it will happen and that's what I believe in.

On the travelling support...

We already know about the desire of our supporters, we know how much they want to win this cup. They showed us in an impressive way when we played at home, when we played away from home, travelling with us all around Europe. It was great to see that some people don't even have to travel because they live all over the world. That shows everything about this club. We really would love to be the team who can make these dreams come true, that's how it is. But in the end, it's football. I can promise that we will try everything - everything - but the problem is Sevilla will do the same. We have to play our best and we will see what happens.

On the importance of the competition's early stages...

All of the games were important, we needed all the results, we didn't have a big advantage in the table. It was quite close in the group but I think never in the history of big European tournaments has a team won the title with the most easy way to the final. All the things you do, all the problems you had on the way, help you in the final. So I'm really happy about a few difficult moments on this tour and we had a lot of them but we solved them. We used the experience from the first leg to play the second leg and that's what I understand when I think about development. This team developed really well. [We played] on a frozen pitch in Sion, after a long flight to Kazan, we had a few things to do and it was never the perfect moment. [Often] three days later was waiting a very difficult Premier League game, nobody had an excuse for us when we have not been ready for the next Premeir League game. But this is the bonus for everything, every moment, what we worked for. When we flew back from Villarreal at night and came back to Liverpool at 5am and played at 12pm two days later at Swansea everybody spoke about how we did not play too good there. It was bad, to be honest, but these boys are human beings and it's not too easy to be ready for everything. But for this final we will be ready because we try to use all our common experiences to be the best team in Liverpool FC shirts for a long time.

On past commitment to clubs...

Seven years in Liverpool hopefully! I don't know if they hope I stay a little bit longer [after the final] but for me it's the only way I can work. When I came here everybody told me the British media are pretty impatient, they are your best friends until they are not your friends. Until now we've had a good relationship to be honest but it's really important that I don’t read what they write. I don't feel the pressure, I feel opportunity; I feel pressure of the game and developing players and I don't think I have all the time in the world but I never felt doubt around me in a club. Maybe I'm not sensitive enough, I'm not sure, but that makes me completely free for decisions and it gives me and my team time to develop together from the first day. I came here because I was really convinced about the quality of these players but at the start I was the only person. Now that a few more people know about this and see how they deserved this final, it made me feel really good. I know it's not sure what will happen tomorrow but on our way, even the experience is important tomorrow. We will try everything to make more than experience. What can I say? My former clubs always wanted extended contracts before I could think about leaving - that's how it was. In the end, it came to an end, that's how it is, but everything is OK, nobody should think two or three years [ahead] in this moment. Maybe it's a long time at Liverpool, I don't know, but we don't think about this. Everything is OK in the moment and we want to use the momentum.

On 'heavy metal football'...

I have decided never ever to give a team a name of music! It follows me my whole life. Last week I got a present of a Metallica CD. I like them, to be honest. I'm not a music specialist to be honest but I'm quite an emotional guy. This team, maybe one time they will have their own name, that would be great. But [there are] a few more smarter people who can do this. The best way would be if our fans would give this team a name, a positive name.

On what classifies as a successful season...

I'm pretty sure if we don't win the title nobody would think it's a success. For me, a lot of things were something like success in these seven months. In the history of Liverpool, if you look back in 100 years, nobody would think it was quite cool. Maybe one or the other game are easy to remember but it's not a moment to judge. We have a big chance so winning tomorrow would make it much more easy for you to see it as a success. And I try to help.

On which Sevilla players pose the biggest threat...

A lot! You all know the names so that's not a problem. I really don't like to put the finger on these players, everybody knows them. It depends on where we show weaknesses, they can only be as strong as we let them be, that's how football is. Avoid passes to their target players, defend well, use your own chances, play football at your best. The target is that nobody talks too much about the decisive players of Sevilla after the game, they have to talk more about our decisive players - that's what I'm thinking about. Big respect for the whole Sevilla squad, they really deserved this final and they had a hard way to go. I like this. Both teams really took this tournament as a very, very important thing and now we are here. [It's] deserved, good final.

On Spanish football as a whole...

[It's the] best football country. It's a combination of really, really good managers, really good scouting, good education of the players. A lot of players around are on the highest level, the Spanish players. When you hear about the Euros squad of Spain and you hear which players aren't involved you [think] maybe they would fit well with one of the other nations. Scouting is a little bit easier because a lot of young players from South America like to join Spanish clubs because of the language, it's easier to settle in. [There are] a lot of reasons but in this moment it's the highest level, so the job for everybody else is to try to reach this level or become better. Spain is not the last world champion, it was Germany, things change. A few years ago it was France, then it was Spain, Germany, we will see in the next European Championships. There are a lot of good players around. England has a great squad for the European Championships - there are a lot of [top] strikers in England, maybe the most in the football world. Everything changes all the time but it's combination of really good things, so it's deserved. But hopefully tomorrow nobody will see it.
