With five days to go until the Europa League final, Jordan Henderson is cautiously hopeful of being involved in the much-anticipated clash with Sevilla.

The Liverpool captain is recovering well from a knee injury that has left him on the sidelines since the first leg of the quarter-final with Borussia Dortmund last month.

But as the showpiece fixture in Basel gets ever closer, Henderson is ‘feeling good’ and understandably eager to feature on such a big stage.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “Of course I want to be involved. European finals don’t come along very often, so of course I want to be a part of it.

“But at the same time I need to make sure I’m fit and if I do get a chance to play, I’m ready to come on.

“I’m feeling good. I’ve just got to take each day as it comes. I’ve been feeling good [for] the last week or so.

“Hopefully [in] the next few days I’ll just continue to improve my fitness really. Hopefully come Wednesday I’m fit enough to be involved.”
