Divock Origi has revealed he is still in with 'a chance' of returning from injury to help Liverpool's bid for Europa League glory.

Earlier this week, Jürgen Klopp told reporters that the Belgian is back out on the pitches at Melwood as he steps up his recovery from an ankle injury sustained against Everton last month.

And, though Origi has yet to resume full training with his teammates, the striker told Liverpoolfc.com on Thursday that he harbours hopes of a comeback against Sevilla in Basel on May 18.

He said: "I'm ahead of schedule, so there's still a chance for the final.

"I just have to do everything and it's the manager who decides what will happen.

"I'd say my mind says that I can be ready but the body has to follow, so we'll see."

The 21-year-old isn't resting on his laurels as he battles back to fitness, either, and has been committed to using his time on the sidelines to positive effect.

"In every aspect I try to use my time to the maximum," he added.

"You have time to think and see your game and so you can use this time in a good way.

"Now, mentally I'm fresh and everything's okay, so hopefully my body will be right and then we'll see."

One aspect he is struggling with, however, is watching his teammates contest a number of high-stakes fixtures from the stands at Anfield.

"Normally, I'm someone who's calm, but when you're there to support your team you support them to the full and your emotions are with them, especially in Anfield," he continued.

"[But] it's special, the team did very well and it shows that we have a lot of quality. I think whomever plays, we have a big chance of winning."
