Alberto Moreno is back in his homeland and joined Jürgen Klopp to preview Thursday's Europa League semi-final first leg against Villarreal at a press conference inside El Madrigal - read on to see what the defender had to say...

On Liverpool being considered the favourites to win the Europa League...

I don't like to fancy ourselves or see ourselves as favourites. This is the semi-finals and there are four teams left - all of them could be considered as favourites. We know it's going to be very hard here, but anyone can win it and we hope to come out on top.

On comparing the Villarreal clash to the Borussia Dortmund quarter-final meeting...

Well, that was a quarter-final and now this is the semi-finals! Both matches with Villarreal are going to be very complicated. It was very, very difficult for us against Borussia Dortmund, we had to believe in ourselves to get through. We know it's going to be very complicated but it's pointless to talk about what's going to happen tomorrow. We are going to try to do our best.

On not drawing his former club Sevilla in the semi-final...

Well I didn't celebrate anything, really. Villarreal are a rival and a rival we have to beat. But of course, as a Sevilla fan, I'd love to meet them in the final and not in the semi-final.

On winning the trophy with Sevilla in 2014 and what it would mean to win it with Liverpool...

Not only for me, but for any footballer, silverware is obviously the best thing. It was a very special year that year because it was also my first year as a professional footballer, so it was a great feeling. As for this year, I would like to take things step by step as we're going to go game by game [as a team].

On Jürgen Klopp's backing…

I'm now with Klopp, who has placed his trust in me, and I'm really happy about that. I'm going through one of the best moments in my career as a footballer.

On returning to Spain and whether that is motivation to show his development...

If anyone has been following me they will have seen how I have developed. I always go 100 per cent in all games, I play the best possible way in doing what I can. So if anyone has been following me, they will have seen my improvement.

On a chance to impress in his home country ahead of this summer's European Championships...

It's not quite the right moment to talk about the European Championships. I'd rather focus on Liverpool; to try to win the Europa League with Liverpool and try to finish in a good position in the Premier League. The rest is up to [Vicente] Del Bosque to decide and I'll just do my best for Liverpool and think of the games at hand.
