Jürgen Klopp has revealed Christian Benteke is fit enough to play a part in Liverpool's meeting with Villarreal on Thursday and hailed the striker's return as 'perfect' for him and his backroom team.

Last week, the Reds lost in-form forward Divock Origi to an ankle injury sustained during a 4-0 thrashing of Everton at Anfield, in which he opened the scoring.

But while Klopp's options were dented by that blow, they were immediately boosted by the reappearance of another Belgian centre-forward, who had been struggling with a knee problem.

Benteke has subsequently made the trip to Spain ahead of a Europa League semi-final, first-leg clash with the Yellow Submarine, and his manager is prepared to use him should the opportunity arise.

At a press conference to preview the game, Klopp said: "Christian Benteke is as you'd expect, he wasn't involved in too many sessions but the last few days he came back.

"We watch him in training, now is not the moment to think about if he's in his best shape because after injury obviously that's not too easy.

"For us, it's perfect that he's back and we only have players here in Villarreal who are ready for playing.

"There are no tourists. If we need, we can do it, and that's good."
