Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho has been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

The 43rd edition of the PFA Awards will be held at Grosvenor House in London on Sunday April 24, and the Brazilian is in the running for a prestigious prize at the event.

PFA Members from 100 clubs across the Barclays Premier League, Football League and Women's Super League have voted for the players who have most impressed them over the course of the 2015-16 season.

And Coutinho has been shortlisted for the gong that recognises the best young player in English football as a result.

Steven Gerrard was the last Liverpool star to win the Young Player of the Year award, claiming the gong for his efforts in the 2000-01 season.

The former Reds captain went on to collect the main prize in 2005-06, while Luis Suarez was also a winner after a remarkable 2013-14 campaign.
