Alberto Moreno believes Jürgen Klopp's knowledge of his former Borussia Dortmund charges can help Liverpool progress in the Europa League.

The boss returns to a club where he ushered in a period of huge success this evening as the Reds face Thomas Tuchel's men at Signal Iduna Park in the first leg of the sides' quarter-final tie.

Moreno is certain Klopp won't be overawed by the emotion of the night and thinks his familiarity with BVB is in fact an advantage.

"The fact that the manager knows the opponents is always beneficial for us," the full-back told Liverpoolfc.com.

"He enjoyed his time at Dortmund but he wants a win more than anyone else and to go through the competition.

"Dortmund will be a great game and I personally like the stadium and its supporters so I would love to play there and get the win if possible.

"It will be a difficult game but we hope to win it and go through."

The Spaniard has fond memories of the Europa League, having won the tournament with his former club Sevilla in 2014 - a matter of months before he made the move to Anfield.

The 23-year-old ranks that win over Benfica on penalties in Turin that night as one of his best achievements.

"That moment and when I signed for Liverpool," he continued. "Those two are the most amazing moments of my career.

"I think that for a player, to win a title is very important and it is a moment that I will always remember.”

Sevilla have lifted the Europa League four times in the last 10 years and Moreno feels able to offer an insight into just why the Andalusian club are so successful in the competition.

He added: "The club and the fans know that La Liga is impossible to win, competing with teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

“Therefore, the Europa League and the Copa del Rey are competitions where they put all their effort in to win them.

"For Sevilla, over the last few years, the main competition has been the Europa League and also the fans have been very excited about winning it, it’s their competition."
