Simon Mignolet was pleased to play his part in Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur but admitted it was hard to shake a degree of disappointment with the end result.

The Belgian was in fine form between the sticks as the Reds held title-chasing opposition at Anfield, making notable saves from Christian Eriksen in either half to keep the visitors at bay.

However, the fact those individual contributions came in a game that Jürgen Klopp's team failed to win took the shine off for the hosts' No.22.

"You know in a game like this there are going to be moments where you're called upon and you just have to hope you can help the team out," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"It's satisfying but on the other hand you want to win the game, that's the first objective when you step on the pitch and unfortunately that didn't happen.

"We're disappointed with that, but I'll look back at my game tomorrow and see what I did well and what I could've done better."

With Liverpool having missed out on victory against Mauricio Pochettino's side, Mignolet was inevitably keen to single out areas for improvement ahead of a meeting with Borussia Dortmund on Thursday.

"When you play at home you want to claim three points, even if it's against the second team in the Premier League, a really good side," he continued.

"We did well in a few moments, we could've done better in others, but we have to take the positives and go forward.

"We've got a huge game on Thursday so we have to look to that, recover well, and make sure we do the things we could've done better [today] in that game."

And the goalkeeper knows the trip to Signal Iduna Park in the Europa League is going to be a big test for the Reds regardless of their own aims.

"We know Dortmund are a really good side, and when you play away from home in the Europa League you have to be - first of all - solid defensively," he explained.

"Hopefully we can score a goal away from home, which is the objective.

"We'll recover well, have a few days to make sure we prepare ourselves for this game, and we look forward to it."
