Jürgen Klopp previewed Wednesday's Barclays Premier League clash against Manchester City with a press conference for reporters at Melwood on Tuesday afternoon - read on to see more of what the manager had to say...

On the title race...

I don't know who's going to win the title. Usually the first in the table is favourite so that's, in this case, Leicester. I think Man City still feel in the race, that's for sure. We need to get the points and I think the game [on Sunday at Wembley] showed us that it's possible for us to win against City. It's not easy but it is possible and we should try not to think about the title race. For us, in this moment, it is not really interesting to be honest. It's not the best news but it is the truth. If somebody wants to be champion, they should be champion without our help and our points. I don't think about who can win the league. In this moment there are a few teams but I only think [about] how we can win tomorrow.

On how to react after the League Cup final...

First of all you have to analyse realistically. You have to take all the things off it. We can use [this] in another final and we saw again that we are capable of really good things. We had, I think, more than 60 per cent possession against a football-playing side like Man City. OK, it was a little bit about the result - 1-0 for them and things like this. But we had a lot of good moments, we created a few chances, not enough with the possession we had. We saw a lot of things and they are what we have to use but especially now it is not possible to change the history of the game on Wednesday. We cannot say 'if we win this game tomorrow then somebody can give us the Capital One Cup', it will not be like this. We have to show that we are ready again. At the end it is a long way to go in the season, we have a lot of games. I think it has to be a disappointment when you lose a final but it was not that we played really badly or things like this. We did a lot of good things, not enough for this game - that's another truth. We showed that we can be really strong and that's all. We have to show this tomorrow again and we will. City will maybe make a few changes, I don't know. They are strong enough to win each Premier League game so it will be a tough side. After the loss you have to show that you are more greedy than before so that's what we have to show tomorrow.

On the team Manuel Pellegrini will bring to Anfield...

I think they would bring back Joe Hart, I would say. I don't know but Yaya [Toure] had a cramp in the last few minutes. That will be a big change if Yaya is out but then [Jesus] Navas is back so he can play. I don't know. I know it's a very important game for them and it's a very important game for us. It is all about who is fit enough in this really intensive game for both sides. We will bring the best line-up we can.

On learning from the final defeat...

We always learn. After this short time, and it's still a short time, you cannot be sure if you could have played better in the first half, for example. We played not bad but we could have played better, so that's a question because after 1-0 and after the counter-attacks of City, we were really in the game and we played really good. There is the open question without the answer. Could we play like this from the beginning? If yes, why didn't we? Even when it is a final I cannot make final judgements. The difference, especially in this game, was not too big between winning and losing. Yes, we lost in a penalty shootout. But after 90 minutes we had a draw and after 120 minutes we had a draw against one of the best sides in England. Obviously they wanted to win the game too so it was a real final and we didn't shoot the best penalties - that's the truth. We had to make a few changes, two early changes and things like this. I always learn about my players but not only in finals.

On LFC's planning for the future...

Yes, it’s clear that we are planning for next season. It’s not that we have to be the first in every moment. We want to be first usually if it’s possible in the table, but with all the other things we have to wait for the right moment to think about them. There’s nothing to say to be honest. It’s not that I can say we are close to this decision or to this one, but we work the whole day and it’s not only preparing for games - that’s the main thing to do, but we have to plan for the future and that’s what we are doing.

On Jon Flanagan's contract...

Yes, of course we think about Flanno’s situation, that’s clear. In this moment, the best news is that Flanno is back, so that’s how it is. But then, there are always a few things after this long, long time when he was injured that you have to be careful with. That’s how it is and that’s what we try to do, but of course it is not too easy for Flanno, because he has a lot of qualities but I don’t think patience is the biggest one. He’s really had to be patient during this long trip and after a game he needs maybe a day or two more to recover or even after a hard session where we have to say 'okay, stop'. It’s not easy for him and not perfect for us. In the end, Flanno is our boy and we’ll do everything that we can. We can come together and hopefully at the end it is a positive solution for both sides. In this moment, I can't say more on this. There will be a few talks, and then we’ll see what happens.
