With three matches against West Ham United already behind them this season, Liverpool know exactly what to expect from a fourth this evening – and Joao Carlos Teixeira insists they can rise to the challenge in the FA Cup.

The Reds are at the Boleyn Ground tonight for their fourth-round replay, having enjoyed much the better of the first encounter at Anfield last month but not found the critical breakthrough during a goalless draw.

Slaven Bilic’s team have been a thorn in the side this season and claimed Barclays Premier League victories home and away before the stalemate in their most recent clash 10 days ago.

A youthful Liverpool line-up, including Teixeira, was tasked with halting the Hammers’ run of success that afternoon and Jürgen Klopp again plans to shuffle his pack in search of a win that would set up a fifth-round tie at Blackburn Rovers.

The Portuguese midfielder, who has been ever-present in the FA Cup so far and scored past Exeter City in the previous round, believes the visitors are fully prepared to overcome the obstacle in front of them.

Teixeira told Liverpoolfc.com: “We could have won at Anfield but the ball didn’t hit the net. I thought we played better and had more chances. Let’s hope we play another good game, beat them and go through.

“All of the games are different and we don’t know what’s going to happen. But we are ready to play – we have trained and know what to do. We just have to face the game and do our best to win.”

The Reds’ exertions in three different cup competitions have already brought a fair share of drama at Anfield and on the road, with a place in the Capital One Cup final against Manchester City safely secured.

Two penalty shootouts have been successfully navigated this season and tonight’s replay will go all the way too if necessary, to settle which team takes on Blackburn later in February.

Teixeira understands what to expect at a ground where Klopp’s charges were beaten in their opening game of 2016 but feels ready, if selected, to match a team brimming with confidence and quality.

“It’s a great stadium and atmosphere,” the 23-year-old said. “I feel ready because I have played at Anfield, but of course it will be a great test for me.

“They are a very good side. They have improved a lot, they bought good players in the summer like [Dimitri] Payet and Victor Moses.

“They have technical players and like to play football, and we had problems in the Premier League with them. They are a very strong side and it will be a great game.”
