Jürgen Klopp delivered positive news on the fitness of Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, centre-back Mamadou Sakho and more of his squad at his press conference on Thursday.

The skipper has not featured for the Reds since mid-August while his French teammate was forced off with an injury before half-time against Crystal Palace last time out.

“[Henderson] is in a really good way,” said the manager. “Next week, maybe parts of team training, we will see. But he’s in a really good way.

“Mama is good news. It’s not that serious as we thought in the first moment.

“We don’t want to give you a time – you can ask every day – but it’s not Christmas 2016! So that’s good. Between now and 2016! [Laughs] It’s good news, it’s not too serious.”

Klopp also confirmed James Milner and Kolo Toure are in contention to face their former club, Manchester City, on Saturday, as is Jordon Ibe.

Jordan Rossiter will not be available for the trip to the Etihad Stadium, but the midfielder is almost ready to re-join the squad at Melwood.

The boss added: “He will start on Sunday with normal team training. He finishes his rehab tomorrow and will be in team training on Sunday.”
