Adam Lallana has insisted that the disappointment of conceding a late goal in Thursday's 1-1 draw with Bordeaux can't take the shine off a number of positives from the performance.

The Reds got their 2015-16 Europa League group-stage campaign off to a solid start as they claimed a point at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux - though they came close to taking all three.

Lallana's superb individual strike had put the visitors ahead just past the hour mark, but they were frustratingly pegged back in the 81st minute when Jussie capitalised on a fortunate bounce in the box to drive home emphatically.

The England international's spirits weren't too dampened by that blow, however, with the efforts of his young teammates and returning centre-back Mamadou Sakho providing cause for cheer in his eyes.

"[We were] disappointed at the end but it's a positive performance," he told BT Sport.

"They scored with five or 10 minutes to go but before the game possibly we'd have taken a point.

"We had a couple of young lads that played tonight, Pedro [Chirivella] came on early doors. I thought him and Jordan [Rossiter] were brilliant and showed great maturity for their age.

"Sakho's a top, top player and a top professional as well. He showed what he was made of tonight - great professionalism, great on the ball, he defended well. Bar the goal at the end we defended really solidly.

"It's a disappointment to have conceded that but it's a point away from home. We need to win our next game at home in this competition and things will look a lot better."
