Martin Skrtel reflected on Liverpool’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on Monday evening and insisted: 'The three points are all that matter, but we will improve.'

Christian Benteke’s first-half goal gave the Reds the win in their opening home game of 2015-16 and maintained their 100 per cent start to the campaign, though the visitors proved tough opposition at Anfield.

Skrtel acknowledges Liverpool were made to work hard for the victory, but is confident they’ll soon reach their attacking best as the new-look squad continues to gel together.

“The win is all that counts and our three points are important,” he told his official website. “I am also happy that we kept a clean sheet again.

“I must admit they were lively and dangerous, played well and had a couple of good chances.

“We have many new players and it takes some time to get used to each other – it can take some time until things click.

“But I have no doubt that things will improve and that we will improve.”
