Liverpool's first home match of the 2015-16 season sees newly-promoted Bournemouth visit Anfield tonight - check out a dozen facts and figures you should know before kick-off.

The teams have never previously met in league football, though they have faced each other on six occasions in cup competition, with the Reds winning four and drawing the other two.

The last time Liverpool met the Cherries at Anfield came in January 1968, when they won 4-1 in an FA Cup third round replay.

Bournemouth are the Reds’ 46th different opponent in the Premier League era.

Last season, Brendan Rodgers’ side won 10 and drew five at Anfield in the league, losing four. They scored 30 goals and conceded 20.

Danny Ings made 30 appearances for Bournemouth in all competitions at the start of his professional career, scoring eight times.

The striker could play the 150th league game of his career this evening.

Christian Benteke's next goal will be the 50th of his club career in England in all competitions. He played in the Aston Villa side that knocked Bournemouth out of last season's FA Cup.

Adam Lallana played four games on loan with the Cherries during the 2007-08 season, three of which were in League One.

Reds assistant manager Sean O'Driscoll was once Bournemouth's leading appearance maker in the league - playing 423 times. He also managed the club from 2000 to 2006.

On the opening weekend, Joe Gomez became the fifth youngest Liverpool player to appear in the Premier League, aged 18 years and 78 days. Only Jack Robinson, Raheem Sterling, Michael Owen and Jordon Ibe were younger.

Last season, Bournemouth topped the Championship with a club record 90 points - one ahead of Watford – despite winning only two of their opening eight games. As the season drew to a close they took 31 points from the last possible 39.

They scored 98 goals in securing promotion, with only MK Dons (101) netting more in the top four divisions. They have failed to score in only two of their last 20 league fixtures.
