Sergi Canos feels his loan spell in the Championship has already allowed for a huge step forward in his development as a player.

The 18-year-old is enjoying a productive time with Brentford and has quickly made a good impression at Griffin Park.

After returning to Melwood last week to train under Jürgen Klopp, the Spaniard will now resume his stay with Lee Carsley's side and prepare for Saturday’s home encounter with Nottingham Forest.

Reflecting on his temporary move away from Merseyside, Canos told Liverpoolfc.com: “I'm enjoying it a lot.

“To get the chance to play at Championship level is unbelievable and I also get the opportunity to train with men, and it's good for me because they like to play football which suits my game.

“I've been there for three months now and I feel like a new player, which is really good for me.”

Meeting Klopp for the first time was a memorable experience for Canos and he admits the Reds' youngsters take great heart from the manager's willingness to give them an opportunity, if they are ready.

He added: “It feels amazing because I have met the new manager and saw how he works and how he feels about the game, so it was amazing to work with him for three days.

“This club is amazing because Liverpool gives opportunities for all the young players.”
