NewsWatch: Katie Stengel scores on NJ/NY Gotham FC debut

The Liverpool FC Women striker joined the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side on loan last week, during the break in the Barclays Women’s Super League season.

And Florida-born Stengel, whose loan will end on September 3, marked her bow for Gotham with a close-range finish as they beat Portland Thorns 2-1 in the NWSL.

Gotham now sit level on points with second-placed Portland, and one point behind table-topping North Carolina Courage.
